As conference season returns, we know many of you will be travelling up and down the country – as well as overseas – living out of suitcases for days at a time. So, in true “Back to School” style, we’ve put together a capsule wardrobe mini style guide; to help make your life easier when packing appropriate outfits for life on the road.
1. Mix and match
Invest in a quality work suit with either a skirt or trouser combo and fitted blazer. This will be your base and will allow you to switch up combinations and style with accessories to achieve different daily looks.
2. Look out for heavy fabrics
Make life easier and look to purchase clothing with heavier fabrics. This will save you time as you won’t have to iron out any creases. Top tip: If you are packing creasable clothing double check with the hotel they have ironing facilities.
3. Comfortable shoes
This is an obvious one, but can be easily forgotten when packing in a rush. It’s likely you’ll be on your feet all day so be prepared with comfortable smart shoes. We love a tasselled loafer or classic ballet flat.
4. Day to night in 30 seconds
Take a day dress and turn into evening wear with the edition of some statement evening jewellery. Pop on a pair of heels and you’re ready for that client dinner.
5. Sweat proof
To avoid having to touch-up every hour, purchase long lasting products that won’t slide off your face when the going gets tough. We’d recommend a spritz of Urban Decay’s Setting Spray for guaranteed staying power – it comes in a handy travel size too.
6. Travel ready
And finally, make sure you invest in a durable travel bag. Look for a compact bag with lots of hidden pockets and detachable compartments to store your bits and pieces and keep your belongings safe during transit.
