With the industry calendar in full swing, seasoned conference attendee and many a time guest speaker, Yasmin Arrigo from Campaign, reveals what essentials we need in our handbags to get us through the upcoming event season.
"For the UK conference planner, the year brings a slew of planning meetings, site inspections and events themselves, with everything from AGM's through to the top performers incentive, and that’s before we even mention the great office Christmas bash.
So what essential survival kit does a planner have on hand to get through a busy 2018? From paracetamol, to echinacea supplements, the trusty Berocca and Dr Bach’s Rescue Remedy spray, planners are booting headaches, colds and flu in to touch during the tough months of winter, or at least that is the intention. Must-haves also include a small first aid kit (self-explanatory), a borrowed-from-hotel mini sewing kit (no-one wants a wardrobe malfunction with an important client in tow), gel heel cushions, masking tape for last-minute fixes and a measuring tape (for spot checks). Also worth a mention was a torch and a Swiss Army knife, proving not just for the festival folk. Many confessed to having a high-energy snack on hand, with almonds being the healthy snack of choice (and Snickers less so, but more readily available in a conference centre vending machine).
But undoubtedly the most essential item for the manic months ahead has to be a loyalty card for your coffee purveyor of choice. All those late nights and early starts are going to require an increase in energy…or caffeine. See you on the other side".
